The Uniforms of the Hussars

The Hussar Regiments wore a typical Hussar style of uniform. The dolman was decorated across the chest with fifteen bars of yellow or white lace and by three rows of similarly coloured buttons. The collar and cuffs were of a distinctive colour. A pelisse was worn over the left shoulder during summer, but in winter, and often when on campaign, it was worn as a second jacket, over the dolman. The pelisse and dolman were similarly coloured, but the former did not have seperate coloured cuffs and collar. The pelisse was trimmed with fur, white for troopers, black for NCOs and grey for officers. Only in the Normal-Hussaren-Eskadron was the fur coloured black for all ranks.
